“I am very proud to have one of my photos accepted as a finalist in the very prestigious National Photographic Portrait Prize for 2020 and hung in the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra.”
The judges at the iconic National Photographic Portrait Prize this year selected 44 images from thousands and thousands of entries so it was very competitive.
It was also fantastic to meet the Curator of Exhibitions Penny Grist and Exhibitions Projects Coordinator Tara James and resident NPG photographer Mark Mohell.
The hospitality and passion of all the NPG crew and the other photographers was amazing. I will definitely be back to win it next year !
Also on show was the Inaugural Darling Portrait Prize of paintings and these were really inspirational too.
The Darling Portrait Prize is Australia’s grand new annual prize for painted portraits.
The NPG has a great bookshop and cafe to hang out at on premises. Both these shows as well as the National Art Gallery next door are worth the run to Canberra.
The National Photographic Portrait Prize exhibition is selected from a national field of entries, reflecting the distinctive vision of Australia’s aspiring and professional portrait photographers and the unique nature of their subjects.
