Beautiful warm winter light has finally arrived. It may be cooler, but when the winter sun comes out it bathes everything in a wonderful soft glow. This is my favourite time of year for taking family photos, here’s why:
- The low light of winter can greatly enhance outdoor location shots and home shoots.
- No crowds! Gorgeous mornings of low mist and fog are great for deserted beach walking shots. You have the whole place to yourself for amazingly atmospheric photographs. That goes for nearly anywhere outdoors in Sydney – beaches, parks, woodlands. No crowds, easy parking and total privacy to create a uniquely special set of photographs you can treasure forever.
- Winter allows for a much greater variety of clothing choices, with more layers, better textures and brighter colours to play with. Wrap everyone up warmly and make it fun! We can capture kids in motion for more dynamic images. Alternatively autum leaves are still in abundance. They make for great beds to lie on and leaf-throwing shenanigans!
- Create precious memories within the comfort of home. Home is where the heart is, and home shoots really let you record your family’s experience and history-in-the-making. Front and back gardens can provide a perfect backdrop, while indoors the whole family might snuggle up together on the lounge for a series of heart-warming portraits. Kids’ bedrooms are also a treasure trove of meaningful elements that forever connect their portrait to a special moment in time. Nothing holds more permanence than beautiful photos of each child on the wall. Finally, home shoots make it easy to capture everyone, fur-babies included! Household pets from dogs, cats and birds to turtles and rabbits can all star in your family photoshoot.
