Best Family Photography Locations in Sydney

Family photography has become a precious activity for many. It documents the growth of every member and family group as a whole. Balmoral Beach in Mosman

a beautiful location that offers lots of space and variety. Long beaches, fantastic rock formations and a seemingly endless wide boulevard that snakes around the grass and sand areas. There is a beautifully curved wharf that encircles the large pool area from the Public Dining Room to The Boathouse. Recommend an early morning photoshoot here in order to beat the kids and crowds and to be able to get a carpark. A late afternoon photoshoot is ideal as the area receives soft shadowed light that falls across the beach, which is picturesque for sunsets. There are also plenty of great cafes nearby to enjoy breakfast or brunch after the photo shoot, or some great fine dining and renowned restaurants for dinner.

Clifton Gardens

Also in Mosman, Clifton Gardens has a lovely long beach, and away from the wharf, an enclosed swimming area that is dog friendly. Great rock formations and trees are plentiful at the northern end. Metered parking is available, and after the photo shoot, you can enjoy a great coffee at the northern end. Nearby are also beautiful sandstone walls and archways from the early colonial military days. Early morning photoshoots are recommended again, particularly on weekends, as it is such a popular picnic area with large family groups.

Bradley Heads

Just past Taronga Zoo is a National Park situated at the southern end of Mosman. Morning photoshoots are ideal, with easy access to parking and the morning birds chirping and singing. The area is stunning late afternoons towards sunset as the sun drops in the west behind the city. Depending on the tide, there is a little beach and also lots of grassland and gorgeous textured rocks. Weekdays are best for photography as it is a very popular picnic spot and wedding photography location. No dogs are allowed here!

Nielsen Park

Another National Park in the Eastern Suburbs at Vaucluse. A beautiful park full of trees and grasslands and an old-world bathing change room complex from the 1930s. With an absolutely stunning beach, early morning shoots in Summer are divine here, and fewer crowds make for easy parking. Late afternoons before sunset are also good, but on hot days the area is extremely busy.

Vaucluse House Grounds

are dog friendly and offer lots of variety with plenty of trees, open fields and long grasslands with low-hanging tree branches for the kids to sit on. Early morning photoshoots are recommended at Vaucluse. Some great cafes and restaurants for a retreat after the photoshoot.

Centennial Park

If your family loves picnics under oak trees and among nature, Centennial Park is a great photoshoot location for you! A dog-friendly park. With the sunlight penetrating the trees around, your photographs will definitely have a beautiful glow regardless of where you are in the area. The pine forest is great early mornings or evenings.

Aside from picnics, there are so many fun activities that both adults and children can enjoy after the photoshoot, including horse riding, cycling and bird watching. At Centennial Park, you will not run out of entertaining activities that will make everyone in the family flash picture-perfect smiles!
